FAQs

How do I install a language pack?

  1. Log in with an Administrator account and open the Dashboard.
  2. Go to Languages in the side menu.
  3. Click Edit next to the language you want to install a pack for.
  4. Scroll to Import Resources, choose the language pack XML file, click Import.
  5. Browse the site in that language once resources are imported.

See Languages & Localization for a full screenshot walkthrough, and Demo Data / the repo’s Language Packs/ folder for the shipped packs (English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Turkish).

How do I create a pack in my own language?

Open one of the existing packs under Language Packs/ in a text editor. Each <Resource> node has Key and Value attributes (some packs also carry an English attribute for reference) — translate only the Value attribute, leave Key untouched, save the file, then import it via the steps above.

How do I change the currency symbol?

From Dashboard → Configurations (General category), edit CurrencySymbol and, if needed, PriceCurrencyPosition. In the position string, {price} is replaced with the price value and {currency} with the symbol — the default is {currency}{price}. See Configurations → General.

How do I configure email notifications?

This project still uses Twilio SendGrid for account-registration, forgot-password, order-placed, and order-status-updated emails. Set the following from Dashboard → Configurations (Site category):

  • SendGrid_APIKey
  • SendGrid_FromEmailAddress
  • SendGrid_FromEmailAddressName

The API key defaults to empty, which means emails silently fail to send rather than erroring loudly — if registration/order emails aren’t arriving, this is the first thing to check.

Which files can be uploaded as pictures?

Product, category and slider pictures and user avatars accept .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif and .webp files only; anything else is rejected with “Only image files can be uploaded.” Uploading requires a signed-in user (/pictures/upload), and slider images require the Administrator role (/pictures/upload-nodb). To allow another image format, add its extension to AllowedPictureExtensions in eCommerce.Web/Controllers/SharedController.cs.
